Urban Voice UK was officially born in 1998; it emerged from a parent company Singer's Paradise, a highly respected organisation, famous for attracting and showcasing the finest talent London has had to offer since 1987.
In order to understand the Urban Voice brand you first must understand the Urban Voice vision. Founded by a man with a huge dream Tony Biola (commonly known as Tony B) a man notorious for wearing many hats from CEO to singer/ songwriter, Tony B spent numerous years developing in the UK music industry before deciding to give back to his community through a project he named, the Urban Voice project.
Following in the footsteps of Singers' Paradise, Urban Voice quickly became known as the 1st prestigious London based talent competition. Running once a year the project soon grew into a national event, scouring through the UK's major cities to present the highest quality of unsigned talent. This was captured in 2003 and culminated into one amazing compilation CD entitled, "URBAN VOICE ALBUM PROJECT VOL. 1".
Over the last 7 years, Urban Voice has acknowledged and recognised the intense demand from UK unsigned artists wanting to gain higher knowledge, understanding and insight to how the UK music industry operates, alongside the opportunity to develop their talents, showcase it on a national scale and be recognised.
Over time and through continual dialogue with those who have come through our programmes as well as record company executives and other music industry agents, it became increasingly apparent that there was also a huge need for training, education and support in all aspects of the music industry, including improving performance, careers guidance and personal development training. The aim of this would be to assist young people, particularly those from disadvantaged and/or black minority and ethnic backgrounds to reach their true potential-this led to Urban Voice UK, the charitable organisation.
In 2004 Urban Voice UK then went through another metamorphosis and began offering music orientated and personal development training programmes, in the form of short term evening courses. With the aim of providing unsigned artists and all those keen in having a career within the music industry the knowledge and tools necessary in order to progress and establish successful careers within the music industry.
These courses continued to be a success time and time again until Urban Voice decided to attach an accredited BTEC 1st qualification to the course, which is now known as Music+.
